Telegram Gründer Dorov Pavel (man kann die v's auch mit w's schreiben) hat seinen eigenen Kanal auf Telegram und klärt dort regelmäßig über sein Telegram auf. Ich darf die Texte verwenden, wenn ich sie explizit als seine angebe, was ich hiermit tue.
Hinweis: Ich bekomme kein Geld von Telegram, wir haben aber inzwischen eine sehr nette Verbindung. Ja, ich weiss, das ist jetzt für manche Menschen sehr finster und abschreckend. Ihr wisst, das ist mir egal. 😉
Hier ein paar Telegram Mythen, mit denen Pavel aufräumt:

Millions of people are outraged by the latest change in WhatsApp Terms, which now say users must feed all their private data to Facebook’s ad engine [1]. It’s no surprise that the flight of users from WhatsApp to Telegram, already ongoing for a few years, has accelerated.
At about 500 million users and growing, Telegram has become a major problem for the Facebook corporation. Unable to compete with Telegram in quality and privacy, Facebook’s WhatsApp seems to have switched to covert marketing: Wikipedia editors have recently exposed multiple paid bots adding biased information into the WhatsApp Wikipedia article [2].
We have also detected bots which spread inaccurate information about Telegram on social media. Here are the 3 myths they are pushing:
Myth 1. “Telegram’s code is not open-source”. In reality, all Telegram client apps have been open source since 2013 [3]. Our encryption and API are fully documented and have been reviewed by security experts thousands of times. Moreover, Telegram is the only messaging app in the world that has verifiable builds both for iOS and Android [4]. As for WhatsApp, they intentionally obfuscate their code, making it impossible to verify their encryption and privacy.
Myth 2. “Telegram is Russian”. In fact, Telegram has no servers or offices in Russia and was blocked there from 2018 to 2020 [5]. Telegram is still blocked in some authoritarian countries such as Iran, while WhatsApp and other “supposedly secure” apps have never had any issue in these places.
Myth 3. “Telegram is not encrypted”. Every chat on Telegram has been encrypted since launch. We have Secret Chats that are end-to-end and Cloud Chats that also offer real-time secure and distributed cloud storage [6]. WhatsApp, on the other hand, had zero encryption for a few years, and then adopted an encryption protocol funded by the US Government [7]. Even if we assume that the WhatsApp encryption is solid, it’s invalidated via multiple backdoors and reliance on backups [8].
In 2019 alone, Facebook spent almost 10 billion dollars on marketing [9] (I guess this includes paid bots on Wikipedia and other sites).
Unlike Facebook, Telegram doesn't spend any money, let alone billions of dollars, on marketing. We believe that people are smart enough to choose what is best for them. And, judging by the half a billion people using Telegram, this belief is justified.

Etwas Off-Topic, aber hochinteressant sind seine Gesundheitstipps. Wenn ihr mal nach seinem Bild im Internet sucht merkt ihr, er sieht sehr jung aus. Hier seine Tipps, die durchaus diskussionswürdig sind:
As I’m turning 36, some people ask how I manage to look younger than my age. I’ve asked the same question of many people who age well (from Jared Leto to a random fitness trainer who looks like 25 at 50). Here’s what all of these young-looking individuals do (and don’t):
1. AVOID alcohol. There may be some rare exceptions, but in general, alcohol (as well as other addictive substances) makes people less healthy and visually older.
2. Sleep a LOT. Sleep is when your body repairs itself. You can’t borrow it: lack of sleep during the week can’t be compensated with oversleeping on the weekend.
3. Do NOT overeat. Excessive weight makes people look older and correlates with dozens of illnesses. Typically I eat twice a day within a 6-hour window or once a day, no snacking. Eating 3+ times a day is just a (bad) habit.
4. EXERCISE. Moderate but regular exercise makes people look healthier and live longer. Personally, I don’t do much cardio (I’d rather walk/cycle/swim in the open air) and prefer moderate weights.
5. LIMIT stress. There are mental habits that help. It helps to believe that everything that happens is for the better. Stoic techniques such as negative visualisation and generally not giving a shit also work. Living close to nature makes all of the above easier.
6. Do NOT eat meat. Eating seafood and wild-caught fish is fine, but farmed red meat is something most people who look younger than their age avoid. I suspect the unhealthy nature of farmed meat has to do with the way livestock is raised and killed (growth hormones, fodder etc).
7. Live ALONE. Surprisingly, all the young-looking, middle-aged men I spoke with lived alone for most of their lives. It may be the result of their independence from the sleeping/eating/behavioral patterns of another person. Or it’s just correlation, and people who are independent from unhealthy societal norms are also independent in their personal lives.
Interestingly, you can find scientific explanations for most of these points (even the last one is defensible, e.g. there are multiple studies showing that sleeping alone improves the quality of sleep). I’ve been following these rules for over 10 years, with "more sleep" being the most difficult due to the nature of my work.
If you are twice as young as I am and looking for the key takeaway, here it is: NEVER DRINK ALCOHOL. Once you give up on alcohol, you’ll stop silencing your intuition, which will tell you what is good and what is bad for you. You will figure out everything you need to know by yourself and won’t depend on other people for advice.

In heise Online bewertete Jürgen Schmidt den Datenschutz von Telegram 2020 als eine „Katastrophe“ und nennt folgende Kritikpunkte:
- Sämtliche (Cloud-)Nachrichten werden bereits beim Eintippen an die Server von Telegram gesendet (um sie, wenn sie nicht gesendet werden, für den Nutzer auf allen seinen angemeldeten Geräten als "Entwürfe" verfügbar zu machen).
- Das komplette Chat-Archiv (inklusive Entwürfe) aller nicht-geheimen Chats wird auf dem Server von Telegram gespeichert und könnte dort in Zukunft für weitere Anwendungsfälle, wie etwa personalisierte Werbung, genutzt werden.
- Geheime (Ende-zu-Ende verschlüsselte) Chats sind mit einer Reihe von Einschränkungen verbunden und schwer zu finden, sodass diese kaum genutzt würden.
Die schlechte Nutzbarkeit der geheimen Chats, wodurch die meisten Nutzer die weniger sicheren normalen Chats benutzen würden, bewertet der Onlineredakteur Stefan Scheurer in SWR3 als Zeichen, dass die unbekannten Betreiber des Messengers alles mitlesen wollen. Er zieht das Fazit: „Telegram ist der unsicherste Messenger, der derzeit herumgereicht wird, Sicherheit wird nur vorgegaukelt.“ (Stefan Scheurer)

Dazu hat sich Telegram ja sehr deutlich geäußert: Wird nie passieren. (Bisher waren sie nie wortbrüchig, daher ist die Reputation diesbezüglich 1A)

Das Argument kenne ich auch. Weil Mercedes keine Handbremse hat, ist die Wegfahrsperre schwer zu finden und könnte vom Endkunden selten genutzt werden.

Er bewertet das also als "Zeichen", dass Telegram alles mitlesen will. Wow, schlechte Beweggründe unterstellen ohne Beweise: Ist der Typ eigentlich ein ITler? Oder inwieweit sonst für eine solche Aussage qualifiziert?
Seine eigene Seite ist NICHT sicher, nicht mal SSL verschlüsselt. Aber er kann IT bestimmt voll gut. HIER.

Damit fällt das ganze Kartenhaus in sich zusammen.
Telegram wird verboten werden und aus den AppStores verschwinden. (dann eben per Direktinstallation)

Die Optik Tricks sind mega. Sport, kein Alkohol, kein Fleisch essen, alleine leben. Alter, ich sterbe. Und ich dacht mit eincremen morgens und abends bleibe ich jung und knackig. 😆
Pavel Durov wurde 37. Als jemand, der wie kaum ein anderer eine Kombination von Arbeit und Freiheit lebt und vor allem als Milliardär, finde ich sein Statement schon sehr interessant. Passt teilweise auch zu meinem letzten Artikel.

1. Big cities. Big cities are sources of pollution, crime and noise. It's good to have access to their resources, but advisable to live outside their borders.
2. Restaurants. Restaurants offer the slowest and least efficient way to eat. Cooking at home allows for healthier diets and more control over ingredients.
3. Hot weather. Sunny weather can bring about not only a lax attitude, but also a risk of cancer and faster aging. Colder temperatures, on the contrary, clarify spirit, body and mind.
4. Fashion. The endless quest to conform with ever-changing trends is expensive and unnecessary. Focusing on comfortable clothes makes life simpler and frees space for things that matter.
5. Real estate. Buying real estate often limits one's choices and is a questionable investment. Renting gives more freedom to move and explore different locations.
6. Social media. The incessant flow of junk cluttering our minds from social media decreases our happiness and creativity. Disconnecting from these internet services is the best thing we can do on any given day.
7. Celebrity advice. Famous people often give unwarranted advice outside their fields of expertise. For all important things in life, it's best to rely on hard science and expert opinion.

If you follow my posts, you know that on my Mom's side, I trace my family line from Kyiv. Her maiden name is Ukrainian (Ivanenko), and to this day we have many relatives living in Ukraine. That's why this tragic conflict is personal both to me and Telegram.
Some people wondered if Telegram is somehow less secure for Ukrainians, because I once lived in Russia. Let me tell these people how my career in Russia ended. Nine years ago I was the CEO of VK, which was the largest social network in Russia and Ukraine. In 2013, the Russian security agency, FSB, demanded that I provide them the private data of the Ukrainian users of VK who were protesting against a pro-Russian President.
I refused to comply with these demands, because it would have meant a betrayal of our Ukrainian users. After that, I was fired from the company I founded and was forced to leave Russia.
I lost my company and my home, but would do it again – without hesitation. I smile with pride when I read my VK post from April 2014, which shows the scanned orders from the FSB and my trademark response to them – a dog in a hoodie.
When I defied their demands, the stakes were high for me personally. I was still living in Russia, and my team and my old company were also based in that country.
Many years have passed since then. Many things changed: I no longer live in Russia, no longer have any companies or employees there. But one thing remains the same – I stand for our users no matter what. Their right to privacy is sacred. Now – more than ever.
